FAQ
Can this shader be pushed beyond just Synthwave-ish styles?
- Yes! It lends itself extremely well to a lot of different types of artstyles. Here's some examples of me using it in different settings during the GMTK2021 Game Jam and GMTK2023 Game Jam.
Can it be used in HDRP/Built-in RP?
- Please check the "Technical Details" on the storepage.
Can it be used in VR?
- In Unity 2020 & 2021, it can only be used in VR on Multipass Rendering. Switch to Multi-pass rendering under Project Settings > XR Plug-in Management > OpenVR. Unfortunately, this is due to a bug with rendering custom Skybox Shaders in VR. Multi-pass rendering is less performant than Singlepass.
- As of Unity 2022 LTS, Singlepass Rendering now works with the asset in VR.
Will the asset pack receive any updates?
- Yes! I will continue to support this pack with customer support, fixes and possibly additional preset content or customer requests. Once I've stopped updating the asset pack I will edit this FAQ.
Is the Sun in your shader just a 3D plane in the sky?
- It is not, the sun is projected into the sky sphere via the shader. There's no additional 3D geometry involved - and there's no way to get close to the sun.
